Other metals

Palladium is a soft, ductile metal of the platinum group, it’s color is darker than that of silver, but lighter than that of platinum. It is easily laminated and formed into a thin wire, its chemical and physical properties are significantly inferior compared to platinum – it is easily dissolved in "aqua regia" and nitric acid. In the jewelry industry it is used as a component of white gold alloy and high-temperature alloys.

Rhodium - a bluish-white metal, hard, high-melting, highly reflective, plastic at heating, have good shaping workability, chemically very passive - does not oxidize in air, in water, does not react with acids and mixtures thereof, is dissolved in alkaline cyanide. Rhodium is resistant to oxygen, sulfur, phosphorus, chlorine, fluorine. In jewelry rhodium is used as the material for decorative and protective coatings (rhodium plating) for silver and gold (white gold) jewelry.

Ruthenium - refractory metal, its color is not very different from the color of platinum, but it’s more hard and brittle, chemically very resistant and wear-resistant, in jewelry is usually used as a component of platinum alloys.

Iridium - very hard and brittle silvery-white metal, extremely chemically resistant - does not react with alkalis, acids, and mixtures thereof; difficult to machining (shaping - only in hot condition). In the jewelry industry is used in alloys with platinum and rhodium to make chemical glassware.

Osmium - white metal with a blue-gray shade, very refractory, heavy, hard and brittle, can not be machined, do not dissolve in acids and "aqua regia"; is used in alloys with platinum to give them hardness and elasticity.
