What is platinum?

Platinum is a metal rarer and heavier than other precious metals, and because it is more pure, it is sometimes called "the most noble." Most of the products made of platinum to increase their strength also contain small amounts of iridium or ruthenium.
Since platinum is a very pure metal, it rarely causes allergic reactions. In addition, platinum is somewhat stronger than other precious metals.
Platinum is not marked by karats. In the U.S., platinum is marked by acronyms PT or «plat». In Europe, the platinum marking is 950 or RT950.
